Informal Activity Day (open time for anyone who would like to arrange and attend an informal activity)

2:00-6:00pm

Meeting for Students of Geothink Grant,

LYNX SALON

2:00-3:00pm Introduction to Grant and Students of the Grant

Prof Sieber will introduce the main objectives of the grant, especially as they relate to student engagement and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Then students will conduct a "speed dating" exercise, in which each of them expresses "2 cool things about my work and 1 thing I need to know to move forward."
3:00-5:00pm Student Research Projects
We will collectively create a critical chronological timeline to completion of projects. Prior to that we will discuss what critical tasks there are for students working on the project and, as a part of that, how to be a successful student in the project, what reporting was required and when is it important for students to get together?
5:00-6:00pm Planning the Student Activities of Geothink
We will discuss activities of the Students of Geothink, like what should be the goal and content of the summer institute? For example, should it be keeping up to date on new technologies? Should it be in the summer or do we wait? We'll discuss other mechanisms for collaborative work, including webinars, workshops, co-authored white papers, and student exchanges.
