We get a big grant

in

Over the next five years, 26 researchers and 30 partners will explore how location-based technologies and social media transform the way Canadian cities and citizens communicate with each other. The grant, Geothink, is led by Renée Sieber, McGill University. This $5.7million grant is funded by Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Partnership Grant Program and generous contributions from grant partners. Executive Summary below:

SSHRC Public Outreach Grant awarded

in

Sieber is part of a team that has just obtained a Federal Government SSHRC Public Outreach Grant called Humanities Dissemination & Making Publics using the Resource Description Framework (RDF) to build an experimental RDF framework. The project is headed by Dr. Marc Milner (with 3 other co-applicants). This project is part of our own digital humanities research node.

New grant

Sieber is part of a new GEOIDE team grant called Spatial and Environmental Injury Surveillance. Nadine Schuurman is principal investigator. In the near future she will be looking for a research assistant to investigate and implement Web 2.0 tools (FOSS) for geovisualization.
